Universal Analytics, an 11-year-old platform that was loved (or tolerated at least) by marketers has died.

The news that Google is about to shut down its life support system still came as a surprise to many, even though the digital marketing industry was warned.

Twitter has been flooded with heartbroken marketers from around the world, some of whom have even held their own funerals.

Google Analytics was created in November 2005, after Urchin had been acquired by Google. It was a free service.

Seven years after the launch of Universal Analytics, Google introduced a new service to the world. This would revolutionize the digital marketing sector.

Platform grew rapidly and became the most popular web analytics service in the world thanks to its key features such as offline conversions, flexible campaign and session timeout settings and flexible session timeout settings.

Google announced in March 2022 that Universal Analytics will be gone forever.

Russell Ketchum, Director, Product Management at Google, held back tears when he announced the shocking news.

Universal Analytics is remembered for its easy-to-use interface, its accurate, up-to date data and its magnificent reporting.

UA has left behind Google Analytics 4 – a tool that seems to be loved by marketers.
