Why do we care? When we reviewed the responses to our GA4 readiness poll, we found that marketers felt Google had not provided enough resources to use the new analytics system. You need to brush up your knowledge if you are in the same boat as those who struggle with GA4. Otherwise, you will not be able accurately report on the success of your campaigns to your clients.

What is the problem with GA4? Colleen Harris, creator of the Marketing Land course on Search Engine Land, said that marketers find it difficult to adjust to changes between UA4 and GA4. She explained that GA4 has a number of new features and workflow updates. “This is a time when digital marketers are already trying so hard to do so many things with limited time. This is another big thing.”

Harris said that the changes to attribution within GA4 is currently the biggest problem for marketers. She continued, “People are used to receiving a lot data about users. The reality of marketing will see us all getting less data.

Does Google provide enough assistance? Marketers complain that Google does not give them enough resources and tools to understand GA4. Harris told Search Engine Land, however, that Google did the best they could given the deadlines and large number of people working on the project. She said, “All of those UA codes require different levels of knowledge and skill. So trying to educate that many people on so many different levels was a feat.”

Why do marketers need GA4 training to improve ROI? They require access to the data that supports their campaigns in order to create reports, monitor campaign performance and adjust for better ROI. It’s important that advertisers develop confidence with GA4. Harris said that GA4 will not disappear and data is always going to flow. The more you avoid it, the harder it is for you to get comfortable using it.

GA4 has many benefits, which could be a game changer for your campaign. The conversions path is a great feature of GA4 because it allows you to see the touch points that are early, middle and late before conversions. It helps you understand the activity that took place before conversions.
