‘s Twitter replacement, Threads, will launch tomorrow //
Meta will launch Threads tomorrow, July 6, a “text-based chat app” under the Instagram name.
Threads – What is it? Download page:
Threads brings communities together to discuss topics that are important to you today and what will be popular tomorrow. You can connect with other people who share the same interests or follow your favorite creators. Or, you can build your own loyal following to share your opinions, ideas and creativity.
Why do we care? Twitter has been able to find new and exciting ways of upsetting many users, and losing advertising revenue. Threads is a platform that marketers and advertisers can watch, but budgets and marketing investment will ultimately follow users wherever they go.
Admit One. Sign up for the app now. You can do this by going to Instagram and typing in “Threads”. The “Admit One ticket” will appear on the right-hand side of the search bar.
You can click that to generate your ticket. Click on it to receive a notification when the app becomes available for download.
Threads will not be available in the EU. The EU is one region that Threads won’t launch. Meta received fines for multiple violations of the General Data Protection Regulation in the EU.
The Independent:
Sources close to Meta have said that the tech company has not rolled out the service in the EU due to what it believes is a lack in clarity in the EU Digital Markets Act. The Act makes companies like Meta “gatekeepers” and restricts how they can use users’ data.
The Irish Independent: No Instagram threads app in EU: Irish DPC claims Meta’s new rival Twitter will not be launched here
Meta collects a large amount of data about users, such as their search history, browsing histories, and more.
