The New York Times reports “Google is testing a new product that uses artificial-intelligence technology to produce stories. It has pitched it to news organisations including The New York Times and The Washington Post, as well as The Wall Street Journal owner News Corp.”

Google does not agree with this description.

I consider someone a true journalist if they are able to find a story at a Zoning Board Committee Meeting and correctly identify all the people involved in a house fire that is four alarms when it occurs at 3am. I doubt AI could ever pass these tests.
