le has shut down Duplex Web
Google has removed Duplex from the Web, and also retired DuplexWebGoogle as a web crawler. Google published a notice in this help stating that Duplex on the Web was “deprecated” and would no longer be supported after December 2022. After this date, any automation features that Duplex enabled on the Web will be removed.
Duplex on the internet. This feature was called “Duplex on Google” by Google. It allowed users to use Google Assistant to make new reservations or purchase other categories. When you asked Google to make a reservation, it would call a restaurant to book a dinner table.
It was useful for movie tickets and for ordering food online, checking out online retailers, flight check-ins, password change, and discount finders.
DuplexWebGoogle crawler. Google has retired DuplexWebGoogle web crawler. Google published this help document about the deprecation.
Google has also added a section to its Google crawler document that is for retired crawlers.
Why we care. DuplexWebGoogle should not be crawling your data. It makes one wonder if local businesses might be receiving calls from Google’s Duplex and other systems in future. Is it? Google has been silent about the announcement, even if it is true.
