unches revenue sharing program for creator ads //
X officially launched its revenue-sharing program for creator ads.
Users can now share revenue generated by verified content creators who have seen ads displayed in response to the content they posted on social media platforms.
Elon Musk’s platform, formerly known as Twitter has introduced this tool as part X’s mission to allow people to “earn a livelihood” by posting on their site.
Why do we care. Musk is currently trying to rebrand Twitter as X after a drop in ad revenues following his takeover last summer. This new feature comes at a pivotal point for the platform. This program has helped many creators to secure early payouts that are helping to revive interest in the brand. While the payouts have been impressive so far, the eligibility requirements are quite high. Maybe too high to earn a real living from X.
Who is eligible for the Creator Ads Revenue Sharing Program? Your account must meet certain criteria to be eligible for the Creator Ads Revenue Sharing Program.
- Subscribe to Verified or Blue Organizations
- You must have at least 15M impressions in the last 3 months.
- You must have at least 500 subscribers
You’ll need to adhere to X’s a href=”https://legal.twitter.com/en/creator-ads-revenue-sharing-terms.html”>Ads Revenue Share Terms/a>, for example the X a href=”https://help.twitter.com/rules-and-policies/content-monetization-standards”>Rules/a>. The Ads revenue share terms, Creator Monetization standards, and Rules of X must be adhered to.
How to use. You’ll have to follow these steps if your account qualifies.
- You can join and set up payments in the Monetization section, found on the side menu of iOS and Android and on the web.
- Stripe is X’s payment processor. Click ‘Join now and setup payouts.’ to be redirected.
- Create a Stripe Account to receive your share. This is the account that you will use to transfer money to your external account.
- If you choose to opt-in, you’ll receive regular payouts as long as you generate more than $50 USD.
What did X say? X posted a message in its Support Center. It said:
- We want to make the process as simple as we can, so all eligible X Blue subscribers and Verified Organisations members are entitled to a revenue share as long as they meet eligibility criteria and sign up.
- Users will be able apply for both Ads Revenue Share and Creator Subscriptions by accessing Monetization under settings.
- You may be removed from the program if, despite being eligible, you violate the Ads Revenue Sharing Terms. These include, for instance, the Creator Monetization Standards, and the X Rules.
