ube tests AI-generated summary on search and watch pages
YouTube is now testing AI-generated summaries that can be displayed on the search and watch pages.
The company has stated that these new AI-generated summaries will not replace video descriptions created by creators.
Yesterday, the YouTube Test Features and Experiments page added a new test.
Why we care. This is an English-only, limited experiment for now. If auto-generated summaries were to be rolled out, it could influence whether someone chooses to watch your YouTube video.
YouTube’s test. Now users may see a summary of a video. Summary can be displayed on the same page as the video, or in search results.
YouTube has not yet shared a screenshot of the exact test.
AI everywhere. Google, the company that owns YouTube is integrating generative AI across several platforms and products, from its experimental Search Generative Experience to Google Ads to Docs/Gmail/Workspace, and beyond.
YouTube is also said to be testing AI generated ideas, titles and description.
