le Chrome now offers 3 site search shortcuts
Google Chrome has added shortcuts to the addressbar on desktop. These shortcuts will allow you to search your bookmarks, history, and tabs.
Why we care. Search marketers do a lot. It’s illegal to not have many (hundreds?) tabs open at once in our field. There are many tabs open at once. These new features in Google Chrome will hopefully make it easier to search for the right tab, bookmark, or URL directly from your search history.
@bookmarks and @history: How it works. Simply type @, then click on the button (Search Bookmarks/Search History/Search Tabs).
- Use @bookmarks to search for a bookmark. Type the bookmark name and you will see a dropdown containing suggestions from all of your bookmark folders.
- Search your browsing history. Enter @history and then type your query. You will see a preview of your browsing history at the address bar.
- Search for a tab by typing @tabs. Hit space and enter the tab title. You’ll then see suggestions in your address box.
This is what it looks like. These are some screenshots of the new Chrome search tools for bookmarks, history, and history.
These shortcuts will be available with Chrome 108 desktop. Are you still not seeing it? Check that Chrome is up-to-date.
