Chat data will never be available in Bing Webmaster Tools
Microsoft said that Bing Chat would be available in Bing Webmaster Tools no later than May 2023 . We are now several months past that deadline, and there is still no Bing Chat data within Bing Webmaster Tools. Bing had been talking about this feature since February, but now Bing is silent.
Microsoft’s current statements Microsoft hasn’t been saying much in the last few months and since May 2023. Microsoft has no more information to share about Bing Chat data within Bing Webmaster Tools, a Microsoft representative told Search Engine Land.
Canel announced several weeks ago that Bing Chat data would be added to Bing Webmaster Tools. He did not specify when the data would be added.
We were told that it would be available in May. Cancel replied, “We will ship in May for Bing Webmaster Tools UX as well as Bing Webmaster Tools’ API,” when asked about Bing Chat data coming to Bing Webmaster Tools. In a second tweet, he said: “We will begin reporting clicks and Impressions in Bing chat in the coming weeks.”

It was built. It was built by the Bing Webmaster Tools Team, but it never got released. Fabrice Canel posted this screenshot at the end May, when he announced that they were just a few days from releasing it. Fabrice wrote there: “The anticipation is growing!” We are auditing and fine tuning to ensure accuracy. “Stay tuned for our new performance report in a few days.”
Why the delay? It seems that Microsoft’s higher-ups do not want site owners to have this information. I believe that Bing chat would reveal to site owners a very low click-through rate and Microsoft would not want this data made public.
Microsoft Bing could have had technical reasons for not releasing it, but as far as I can tell this feature was ready and Microsoft Bing deliberately decided not to release. Why? Why?
Why we care. We hoped that Bing would share the data in a transparent way. Google Search Console was not something we expected. Microsoft Bing is more transparent than Google with Bing Chat and Search.
Microsoft has not commented on the Bing Chat feature in Bing Webmaster Tools. It’s sad that we are now several months after Bing first teased it.
