Gartner deemed that both emotion AI and generative AI for sales were at the “peak of inflated expectations”. Gartner defines this as “a phase of overenthusiasm, unrealistic expectations, and a flurry well-publicized technology leaders’ activity that results in some success, but also more failures as the innovation reaches its limits.” Only conference organizers and publishers make money.

Gartner’s 2023 MarTech survey shows that 14% of marketers have already invested in AI. Nearly 2/3rds plan to do so, but the majority are still unsure. Despite their enthusiasm, only slightly over half of respondents believe GenAI offers more reward than risk.

A survey by The Marketing AI Institute and Drift revealed that 91% of marketers believe AI will be either very important or critical to their success in marketing over the next year.

The AI is not yet fully understood. 35% of respondents to the State of Marketing AI Report 2023 say that they are in the beginning stages of learning AI terms and capabilities. 54% of respondents say they are in the intermediate phase, and only 11% of respondents say they have advanced knowledge.
