oogle’s first five positions, 85% of title keywords are found.

Google ranks titles that contain keywords in the top five positions 85% of the times.

BrightEdge, a platform for enterprise SEO, has shared new research with Search Engine Land on meta tags and title tags.

Why do we care? Although you won’t be surprised by the 85% figure, it is always a good idea to review SEO components such as title tags and meta description to confirm if your data suggests that keyword usage or lack thereof could impact your ranking. You can still rank for a particular keyword even if you never use it on your page. This happens less often.

Other important elements. Apart from the correlation between keywords and position:

100% agreement. Never thought I would see the day that an SEO survey could find one thing everyone agreed on, but it’s here: 70% of enterprise marketing professionals believe having the correct titles and Meta Descriptions is a top priority. The other 30% said it was important or very.

This means that 100% of respondents believe it is important to have correct meta descriptions and title tags. Zero respondents chose “neutral” and “not a priority.”

Hours Invested. The time spent on title tags and meta description remains a major investment for enterprise marketing. Every week:

This research is about. The study was based on an analysis of 10,000 words across major verticals, including finance, retail and travel. It also included a survey with 300 enterprise marketers. Both studies were conducted in the same month.

But. The correlation is not the cause. Keywords are only one ranking signal, and they may or may be the reason that some pages appear in the first 5 positions on Google.
