le Ads suspended advertisers may need to pass an advertiser verification.
Google will require that some suspended advertisers go through the Advertiser Verification process in order to be reinstated. The process will be rolled out to some advertisers on October 10, 2023.
Who is affected. Google explains that this new policy only affects “selected advertisers” whose accounts have been suspended, but not advertisers on monthly billing.
What’s changing? Some advertisers will have to first go through a verification process before they can submit an appeal. Google stated that “in October 2023, certain advertisers who have had their accounts suspended for violating our Google Ads policies will need to complete the Advertiser Verification process before they can appeal account suspension.”
“Advertisers with monthly billing are not required by law to complete the Advertiser Verification and can appeal directly their account suspension.”
When will this happen? Google has said that it will implement this process starting October 10, 2023, with the full implementation ramping up in approximately four weeks.
What is required for verification? Google has stated that advertisers might be required to provide certain information as part of the advertiser verification process for account suspension appeals.
- If the advertiser is a business, D-U-N s number will be required.
- If the advertiser is a person, they must provide their US Social Security Number (SSN) or telephone number.
Why we care. It will probably cause some advertisers a little headache if their accounts were suspended. This may also reduce problems with ad fraud and issues related to ad quality on the Google Ads Network.
