Bing announced new controls that allow site owners and webmasters to prevent Bing Chat from utilizing their content for AI training or Microsoft’s generative AI model. Fabrice Canel, Microsoft , told us that while they are working with the industry to establish future AI standards, they also wanted more immediate support for their publishers.

Bing has added that search results will still include content marked with NOCACHE or NOARCHIVE tags.

Bing recommends that users add the NOCACHE and NOARCHIVE values to their Bing Chat settings in order to find articles behind paywalls.

Bing did not want to wait too long, and give control back to site owners now that AI is growing at such a rapid pace. Bing has decided to use what’s already available to give us choices on how Bing Chat or Microsoft can utilize our content.
