le issues December 2022 update on link spam
Google just when you thought that the Google Search updates for the year were over, has now released a link spam update for December 2022. This update is global and will take approximately two weeks to rollout.
Google’s statement. Google stated, “Our launch today (which we refer to the December 2022 spam update link) will take approximately two weeks to fully rollout. Rankings may change as spammy link are removed and all credit given by these links is lost. This launch will impact all languages.
SpamBrain is used to create links. This is SpamBrain for links. Google refers to it in its 2018 Google spam report. In particular, the spam trends section, where Google discusses its “machine learning system” to improve search spam detection.
Google also stated that SpamBrain could not only detect spam but can also detect sites purchasing links and sites used to pass outgoing links.
Helpful content system still rolling out. While this spam update is being rolled out, Google is still working on the December 2022 helpful Content System.
Why we care. If you notice a drop in ranking on Google within the next two weeks it could be due to this link spam update. Follow Google’s webmaster guidelines to ensure your links are natural. You can improve your site over time to attract more links.
Google stated in previous spam updates that site owners must ensure they adhere to best practices for links both incoming as well as outgoing. Focusing on quality content and improving the user experience is more important than manipulating links.
