osoft will add ChatGPT to Bing Search

In the next few months, Microsoft could add OpenAI’s ChatGPT features for Bing Search. According to The Information two sources claim that the company will likely add the ChatGPT AI question-and-answer service to Bing Search, Microsoft’s search engine.

What is ChatGPT? ChatGPT was launched by OpenAI several months ago. It has since become extremely popular all over the internet. It is used by everyone, not just SEOs to answer their questions, write essays, and get homework answers. ChatGPT has been called the Google killer by some, but this may not be true.

ChatGPT was launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It’s built on OpenAI’s GPT3.5 family of large-language models and fine-tuned using both reinforcement and supervised learning techniques. ChatGPT learns from content on the internet before 2021, but it struggles to understand current and trending topics. This blog post explains how it works technically.

The report. According to The Information, Microsoft could soon see a return on the $1 billion it invested in OpenAI (creator of ChatGPT, which provides human-like text responses to questions). According to two sources with direct knowledge, Microsoft is planning to launch a Bing version that uses ChatGPT’s artificial intelligence to answer search queries instead of just showing links. Microsoft believes that the new feature will allow it to outflank Google. It could launch by March 31st.

Google in trouble. Despite reports that Google has been “code red”, I do not believe Google is in serious trouble. Google’s AI and machine learning are quite advanced, so they can probably do the same or better than ChatGPT. Google’s spam team claimed that they have methods to identify and neutralize AI plagarized content. We also know that there are many tools that can detect AI-generated content. I wonder how reddish it would be if it could detect AI.

Why do we care? Any new search feature, especially a chatbot search, can alter and redirect searcher behaviour. Understanding searcher behavior is crucial for marketers, SEOs, and SEMs to show up in places people are searching. This will help you and your clients drive traffic, awareness, and business.

This space is still very new. However, I’m sure that we will all be closely watching it to ensure we maximize its potential for clients and other stakeholders.
