LinkedIn Ads launched in 2011.

Advertisers can now target specific job titles, company names or LinkedIn Groups.

LinkedIn DirectAds, a self-service PPC advertising platform launched in beta in July 2008. In the beginning, advertisers were limited to targeting by location, job function, size of company, seniority, gender, and age.

While marketers loved LinkedIn Ads’ broad ad targeting, they were not happy with the cost per click.
