In September 2021, Yahoo’s Chief Executive Officer, Jim Lanzone, assumed the helm. Jim is a search veteran with deep roots. For seven years, he worked for Ask.com, beginning in 2001 as an Assistant Vice President, Product Management. In 2004, he was promoted to the position of SVP, Product Management and in 2004 to the post of SVP and General Manager, Ask Jeeves. He then became CEO in 2006. He was the President and CEO for CBS Interactive and then CEO of Tinder. In 2006, he is now the CEO of Yahoo! It will be thrilling to see how Yahoo Search performs under Jim’s direction. He is a creative thinker who has produced a lot search innovation while working at Ask.

Why we care. Personally, I can’t wait to see what Jim (and his team) come up with for Yahoo Search. Yahoo Search is a great place to find new interfaces and concepts. Yahoo was a major player in search early on, but then the company declined and Marissa Mayer , a Google veteran, couldn’t save it.

Yahoo now has a blank slate, and it will be exciting to see if Yahoo is able to compete again.
