s threatening SEO strategies? by Internet Marketing Ninjas //

In recent months, artificial intelligence has overtaken the SEO industry.

ChatGPT is an AI-driven tool that can understand and execute all (SEO) tasks. This has led to a long-running question being asked in many headlines.

First, ChatGPT is a great tool. However, it can be intimidating to SEO professionals.

While AI might change how SEO is done today, it is unlikely that it will replace SEO as a profession. Although AI can automate some aspects of SEO such as keyword analysis or technical site audits (such as keyword research), it is still dependent on human creativity and human talent to create and implement effective strategies.

Search engines are continually evolving and becoming more sophisticated. This makes them an interesting target for AI to keep track of. SEO professionals will continue to be needed to keep up with the latest search engine algorithms.

Note: That “moving target” point is something I really like…

A second, and more serious, note that search engine optimization has not been affected by technological advances. It thrives whenever new tools are created to solve old problems and offer new opportunities.

ChatGPT, an AI tool like ChatGPT, can be a great help to the profession and give us another way to make our industry flourish.

Let’s look at how ChatGPT can help with SEO (and is already doing so):

1. Assistance with content creation and optimization

Since years SEOs have tried to automate the creation of SEO content. This is because search engines need text to understand a page’s content. It is also not possible to manually write content for each target query or search intent. This is particularly true for large-scale websites that sell ecommerce products and have millions of SKUs.

ChatGPT, your rescue! It’s not so fast! Using AI to create content might not be a good idea, for at least two reasons.

Where can we turn to AI for content creation? ChatGPT, a tool that helps with content creation for SEO purposes, can be used without compromising your overall SEO strategy.

ChatGPT can categorize keyword lists by search intent.

It also helps with content structuring.

You can also ask the tool to categorize keyword lists by sentiment, or to create a semantic analysis to group keywords. Although the output will still need to be reviewed manually, it is far more efficient than doing these tasks manually using only your subjective understanding of the queries.

A professional team is not hired to perform these tasks. It is more about improving the efficiency of certain parts of the process (and using technology to discover new ideas that traditional keyword and audience research might overlook) than replacing a full service agency.

2. Small tasks can be done quickly to save time

ChatGPT can do smaller tasks to save time. These tasks include basic research and coding as well as data analysis.

ChatGPT, for example, can quickly create Schema codes based on your instructions. It can also suggest Schema types based on what you have input. It can generate a clean HTML code from any input text. It can also write simple PHP tools, fetch data from APIs, and even create them.

Smart developers will still need to work together many of these pieces, fix the errors that the tool makes frequently, test the code and make adjustments as necessary. You’ve probably worked with dev teams and thought, “This is what they do already, but they rely on public code snippets or freelancers.”

ChatGPT can be described as a helpful assistant that can simplify many people’s lives, but it still requires human intervention. There is always a larger picture, complex testing processes, and long periods of adjustment based on human interaction with pages or tools.

What AI tools, like ChatGPT, can do that?

Search (for the moment)

ChatGPT is unable to search. It isn’t updating its database and isn’t accessing any other search engines.

We don’t know if that will change. However, one would assume that it will in the future. I do not expect this tool to replace Google’s search engine anytime soon.

ChatGPT is dependent on its knowledge base. It is taught to understand and to learn from it. It seems a bit difficult to update that knowledge base as it requires more testing and training, which isn’t easy. The tool’s knowledge base would be much more up-to date if it were not.

SEO is a dynamic industry. Your site could be filtered for something that was done five years ago. Anyone who has worked in SEO knows this. You wouldn’t want to rely on outdated data from an AI tool to make the most current decisions for your site.

ChatGPT admits that it isn’t good at moving targets. This is the nature of the SEO industry.

Think like you’re a human being

Emotions, mistakes, feeling lost and confused are all part of the search and purchase journeys of people.

Understanding human emotions and anticipating their reactions is an important part of SEO tasks such as outreach and creating viral content.

It is possible to create relevant content. However, it is not something a tool can do.

AI content can lead to all web content – including its tone, formatting and verbiage – becoming identical. This is an internet we don’t want.

Integrating with tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console and the rest AI is not enough to be able to identify the many reasons your website has lost visitors and suggest solutions. Overuse of AI-generated content may be the problem for many of your websites in the future.

Final thoughts

This is only the beginning of AI’s use in SEO and everyday life. Soon, we will see AI-driven technology integrated with other toolsets, leverages new datasets, report analytics, recommendations back to us and updates (or even performs), on which SEO checks are due to further improve our optimization and marketing efforts.

What happens if the AI tool can do things it doesn’t know?

Change is constant in this industry. We will continue to explore AI-driven technology as a way to make SEO more efficient and productive.

ChatGPT users may not be aware of the importance of a SEO strategy. This requires a deeper understanding and perspective of the larger picture, the target audience’s interests, and the trends emerging.
