Google will remove the podcast carousel completely from Google Search on February 13, 2023. The Google podcast manager has a notice about the podcast carousel’s removal.

The notice. The notice states, “Note: Google Search will cease showing podcast carousels after February 13th.” This will result in a drop of clicks and impressions on How people find your podcast after February 13.

Was it not already gone. A bunch of SEOs who manage podcasts and like podcasts noticed that the podcast carousel disappeared from Google Search results a few weeks back. It is possible that it may still be there until the 13th of February.

This is what I saw in GPM.

Google Search will stop showing carousels starting next week. Clicks and impressions will drop to zero after that date.

They are asking podcasters for data downloads in advance.

Yes, I think it’s a wasted opportunity. Although I don’t know how AI could replace podcast search, it would be an interesting development.

Why we care. You may get fewer clicks or impressions if you have a podcast. In case Google deletes your data, you should consider downloading any historical data.
