Google Search Console will send alerts when there are large drops in clicks
Google Search Console began sending notifications in 2019 when it noticed a “substantial decrease” in clicks from Google Search Results to a website compared to the previous week.
It said:
- “Search Console” analyzed your performance report. It found that there was a significant drop in clicks on your site last week, compared to previous weeks. This is most likely due to a decrease in clicks for query “X”.
Google was able to compare the clicks on your site and queries as per the Google Search Console performance report. Google would notify those who had access to the property in Search Console if it noticed large fluctuations.
