le Search Console now exports bulk data daily to BigQuery //
Over the next week, Google will be rolling out a new feature that allows you to automate bulk exports of your Search Console performance data into BigQuery. Google has announced that this feature will enable you to run more complex queries on your data and export it to an external storage service. This will allow you to do more automated analysis.
The export. The export. This data is not subject to the daily data row limit, so you can get more data by using this method.
This is the coolest part. Not only are data limits reduced, but it is also possible to automate daily exports.
Who is this for? Google stated that this would be more useful for larger websites with larger datasets. This data export could prove to be especially useful for large websites that have tens or thousands of pages and those that receive traffic from tens or thousands of queries per day (or both). Google wrote:
How to export. Google has created a help file to guide you through exporting your data to BigQuery. It is a bit technical and may require assistance from a programmer or developer. These are the higher-level stages:
- Prepare your Cloud project ( within Google Cloud Console). This includes activating the BigQuery API and granting permission to your Search Console account.
- You can set an export destination ( within Search Console). This includes entering your Google Cloud project ID and selecting a data location. Only property owners are allowed to set up bulk data exports.
The export will be done daily and the first time will occur within 48 hours. Export simulations that fail should be stopped immediately. Here’s a list possible export error.
The data. Google gave a brief description of the three tables you will have access to:
-
searchdata_site_impression
: This table contains data aggregated by property, including query, country, type, and device. -
searchdata_url_impression
: This table contains data aggregated by URL, which enables a more detailed view of queries and rich results. -
ExportLog
– This table records the data that was saved on that particular day. Failed exports will not be recorded here.
Why we care. You can analyze your search performance more effectively if you have more data in your platform. This allows you to slice and dice data in ways that you may not have been able to before. This will allow you to come up with new ideas that can improve your site’s user experience and design.
Third-party data tools might also be able to create new reports using this. Google stated, “We hope that website owners and SEOs can find more content opportunities through long-tail queries by making more Google Search data readily available.” It will also make it easier for page-level information to be merged from internal systems into Search results in an effective and more comprehensive manner.
