Google has updated two policies regarding the ad network in this month’s update.

Update on Abusing the Ad Network policy. The new policies will take effect on May 9, 2023. Full enforcement will follow in approximately four weeks. Google will maintain its existing anti-malware policy in the interim.

There are new changes. New policies will replace the current policy. The official announcement by Google can be found here.

  1. Malicious software. Malicious software. This applies to all advertisements, as well as any software hosted or linked from your website or application. It doesn’t matter if the software is advertised via Google’s advertising network. Violations of the Malicious Software Policy are now considered a flagrant offense.
  2. Compromised sites. Sites and destinations are considered compromised when their code is altered or hacked for the benefit of third parties, often in a way that is harmful to site users. Your account will not automatically be suspended if this policy is broken. Google will notify you at least seven days before any suspension.
  3. Unwanted Software. Advertisements and destinations that violate Google’s Unwanted Software Policy will be removed. Your account will not be suspended if this policy is broken. Google will notify you at least seven days before any suspension.

Latest updates to Financial products or services. Advertisers who promote Cryptocurrency Exchanges (indonesia) will be permitted to market their products and/or services starting April 28, 2023 if they comply with the following requirements and have been certified by Google.

Google allows advertisements promoting cryptocurrency exchanges that target Indonesia, provided the advertiser has the appropriate Crypto Asset Physical Trader license issued by the Bappebti. All other legal requirements in your area must be met.”

This policy does not apply to account suspensions. Google will notify you at least seven days prior to any account suspension.

Why we care. Account suspension and other penalties may be imposed for failing to follow Google’s requirements and policies. These consequences can be avoided if advertisers keep up-to-date with Google’s requirements and policies. This will allow them to maintain a positive advertising presence at Google.
