Sheryl Sandberg named Facebook Chief Operating Officer

Facebook named Sheryl Sandberg its Chief Operating Officer in 2008.

Sandberg was at the time Google’s vice-president of global online operations and sales, responsible for publishing and advertising products online sales. Sandberg joined Google in 2001.

Sandberg joined Facebook on March 24, 2008, and would be responsible for helping the company grow its operations and expand its global reach.

Why is it important to make the changes?

Sandberg stated, “That is part of the thrill.” I’ve enjoyed being part of the building of Google. It’s an amazing opportunity to support another young company in its growth into a global leader.

Sandberg would continue to be the COO of Facebook and Meta for the next 14 years. In June 2022, Sandberg announced her resignation and was officially released from her role as COO by August.
