ChatSpot, a new generative AI tool from HubSpot, was launched today by the company. According to Dharmesh Shah, founder of HubSpot, the new app is currently in alpha and combines technology from HubSpot’s CRM with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and DALL-E 2. The new app also uses Google Docs applications such as Google Sheets or Google Slides. ( see below).

Salesforce unveiled Einstein GT this week. It integrates ChatGPT functionality into their CRM, sales cloud, and Slack.

ChatUX. ChatSpot’s app is designed to make it easier for users to use the CRM with general language prompts. Dharmesh refers to this technology as “ChatUX” and it allows users to interact with the CRM and perform different sales functions in fewer steps.

CRM. Dharmesh shared a number of ChatSpot use cases that could be applied to CRM.

If a user wishes to add a contact into the CRM, they simply need to enter the contact’s information in ChatSpot instead of going through the menus in CRM.

ChatSpot can help you with sales research by answering your questions about contacts in certain markets or companies that are part of a particular industry.

Content. ChatSpot can generate emails or other messages that pull in context information about the company, contact and salesperson.

These messages can be copied to a clipboard by clicking a button.

Reporting using ChatGPT data sets. ChatSpot offers a natural language interface to access data within the HubSpot CRM. However, ChatSpot also pulls in additional data sets via its integration with ChatGPT.

For example, a global market report can be generated by adding columns from ChatGPT data about the populations of countries or other data not in the CRM.

Why do we care? This is a first look at some chat functions and generative AI that could reduce repetitive tasks for marketers. Dharmesh explains in the video that ChatSpot’s content for email is a “first draft” meant for humans to work from and proofread.
