should SEO look like in the AI age? //
A host of AI “experts”, along with the flood of AI tools on the market, suddenly emerged. There are many new litanies about “SEO is dead” or “AI will take over your job”.
Reality is that neither one of these is true. Or at least, not in the way many people think.
SEO is alive, not gone. AI will and take over your job.
Since the late 1990s, people have predicted the death of SEO. To poke fun at these predictions, even wrote a song to Neil Young’s “Hey Hey, My My”.
SEO is always evolving and will continue to evolve, but we all know that. SEO isn’t new to AI. Google uses machine learning and AI to improve its search results, detect spam and match searcher intent with website content.
SEO is not dead. Those who continue to improve their SEO work have prospered. We adjusted to the changes, and began to improve how we optimize websites for organic search.
SEO tools have been using AI for years, despite all the hype. AI is now more common than ever, but it’s not just for those with the ability to write code or top tools.
This has been repeated many times, but it is worth repeating.
“AI won’t replace you.” “A person who uses AI will replace yours.”
What can SEOs do to succeed in the new era of search engine optimization?
Fabrice Canel stated, “SEO is not dead. But it will change.” Keep the same SEO strategy as before.
This advice was given with caution. “Keep an eye on how usage grows, as it transforms the way people search.” These are the things we should do anyway.
Relying on AI alone to generate content is doomed. The search engines will detect AI-generated content, and mark it as spam. But the quality of the content won’t. Over the long-term, high-quality content will always outperform lower-quality content.
AI-generated content can be used, but Gary Illyes from Google advised that it should be reviewed by humans in order to verify accuracy and quality. While AI platforms are smart, they can’t replace human perception, experience, and expertise. Generational AI can have difficulty with languages that use complex grammar.
Illyes noted that AI content in Japanese may be incorrect. Humans should therefore review AI translations.
Generative AI is able to perform mundane tasks such as writing HTML titles, schema tags, and meta descriptions more efficiently and quickly than traditional methods. Although content generated in this manner should still be reviewed by an individual, reviewing it is faster than writing from scratch.
Do you see the point? Artificial intelligence cannot replace human beings. AI may one day be able to replace humans, but not now.
Another use of AI is keyword search. We have never been able before to quickly and efficiently sort through large amounts of information to come up with data-driven recommendations. It will get even faster and more precise over time.
Keep ahead of the game
This is how you can save time and get better content optimization recommendations by using AI. This type of service will become more common and the price points will drop.
Some digital marketing professionals have compared what’s happening today to the time when Google was first launched or when Twitter arrived on the scene. With all the new possibilities, there’s a lot to be excited about.
