launches retail hologram experiences

ARHT, a Hologram technology company, has introduced ARHT CAPSULE, a touchscreen model to enhance in-store shopping. These screens show life-sized products and presenters, either on a live stream or via a video loop.

This summer, the first CAPSULE screens are set to roll out at luxury shops and several hundred locations in large retail chains.

Why do we care? Marketers are looking for new ways to use screens in-store so shoppers can find the right product and get discounts. To increase the WOW factor for shoppers who prefer to shop in-person, they also use hybrid events. This is a combination of virtual and in-store participation in one event.

This new technology, CAPSULE, is intended to be adopted by more B2C customers. ARHT supports holographic presentations at live events since 2014 and internal use in mostly B2B cases.

Shop with holograms. Touchscreens allow customers to view videos in-store about specific products. These recordings show the product in action with a live presenter. The touchscreen can be used to zoom in on featured products by customers.

Gorana Seeley from ARHT, vice president global retail, stated that CAPSULE “is the latest addition to the retail sector.” “Retailers have struggled to bring shoppers back into their stores after pandemic lockdowns. This technology bridges that gap. They have a reason to return to stores. You can’t experience holograms on your phone or laptop.

Connecting to digital experiences. Marketers have the ability to connect the in-store hologram display to the customer’s digital experience. They can also display QR codes on CAPSULE which take the customer to an app or promotion.

Seeley said, “We can link any customer’s request.” A QR code could link the customer to a coupon, if they buy a product on that day. They can also buy online if they are not able to visit a store.

Marketers can track the ROI of the display by connecting the digital experience and the in-store Hologram Experience.

The CAPSULE is available in one size. Marketers have the option to either purchase or lease units. They can also choose how many they need.

Live demos. The CapSULE also produces live Holograms, just as the ARHT technology.

This allows stores to host celebrities and live demonstrations via the hologram. The hologram is created in a “capture studio” in one location, and can then be transmitted to multiple other locations.

This technology allows live product demonstrations of luxury products to be held at the customer’s request. High-end retailers could have multiple CAPSULE units and host live product demonstrations from one location.

Manufacturers can use the technology to demonstrate hologram products to their retail customers.
