sforce and Google collaborate on local commerce //

Salesforce announced an integration between Salesforce Commerce Cloud (Google Merchant Center) to allow merchants to highlight products available in stores. Salesforce data suggests that online searches are more popular than brick-and-mortar store visits. This also leads to a higher likelihood of shoppers shopping when they can see that the store stocks an item.

Commerce Cloud merchants will now be able, using this integration, to convert local inventory into local product listings in Google Search and Google Maps.

Why we care. The line between digital and real-world commerce is continuing to blur. Online shopping habits that were so popular during the pandemic will continue to be prevalent for some time, but this doesn’t mean that store visits are obsolete.

Consumers are seeking seamless connections between online product discovery and in-person purchase. This integration aims to achieve that goal at a local, granular level.

The Salesforce data supporting the move can also be found here.

Integrating commerce into discovery. This integration also ties together online discovery with the commerce experience. This is similar to how many merchants want to make it easy to find a product online and then purchase it digitally.

This announcement is in conjunction with Salesforce’s Einstein GPT Commerce, which combines proprietary and dynamic AI models with real-time customer data like shopping history and customer demographics to automate and tailor shopper recommendations within Commerce Cloud.
