le sets a deadline for removing data from Universal Analytics
Google announced yesterday that users of Universal Analytics can export their data until July 1, 2024. UA will cease collecting data as of July 1, 2018. The company will automatically create Google Analytics4 properties on behalf of those who are using UA but have not yet done so.
Google Analytics 4: Start with a new definition of success
Google previously stated that users will have a minimum of six months to export their data.
What else should you know?
- Users will be able to view historical data in the user interface, but not edit it.
- Google Ads and third-party integrations will not receive any data on bids, audiences, or conversions.
- Universal Analytics 360 continues to collect data up until July 2024. After that, users will have an additional year to export data. They can also use the Viewer to view historical data.
- UA 360 users will be able create Universal Analytics properties that are standard and upgrade them to 360 in order to continue processing data.
Why we care. Google seems to have a good grasp on giving people the time they need to migrate from UA to GA4 as well as retrieve their data. The process of migrating has been automated to the point that this reporter could do it.
