chat opens up to new users and developers through API and expanded visual answers

Microsoft Edge users will be able to download the Bing Chat immediately. There is no longer a waitlist.

Microsoft Corporate Vice President Yusuf Mehdi stated that Bing Chat has been used for over half a trillion chats since its launch three months ago.

Why do we care? We have been closely monitoring generative integrations of AI in the martech industry. Bing Chat is a popular service that attracts users to Bing. They use Bing for searches and to get answers to questions. Marketers will be able to use the API and new features in a variety of ways. Exporting and sharing Bing Chats makes it easy for marketers to collaborate.

New features of Bing chat The new features include four main points:

API. Microsoft announced that developers would soon be able build plug-ins for the Bing Chat service. Bing had hinted would be coming in the past few weeks. You can see in the screenshot below how OpenTable helps you book and find a restaurant reservation. OpenAI’s ChatGPT supports for this.

Better experience with more visuals. Bing updated the answers in Bing Chat by improving the format and layout, adding richer images and videos, as well as adding charts and graphs where relevant. Bing Image Creator, also available in over 100 languages, is a great way to get more visual.

Microsoft has also redesigned Edge in order to present chats better and more visually. The company stated that this includes a streamlined appearance, rounded edges, organized containers, and semi-transparent elements. This is how it looks:

The Bing Chat interface can be accessed from the Edge sidebar, so that you can continue to chat while browsing the web.

Uploading images to your chat will allow you to ask Bing for answers. Bing Chat will search the internet for content related to your image after you have uploaded it.

Microsoft Edge’s Bing Chat has been enhanced to better summarize long documents in both PDF and HTML formats.

Exporting chat history Microsoft’s been talking about adding a chat history to for some time now, and now Microsoft is rolling out the feature for Bing Chat. Bing Chat allows you to continue a conversation where you left it. You can also go back to earlier chats by using Bing’s chat archive.

On the right, there is a tab called “Recents”, which allows you to pick up where you left off. There is also a tab called “saved”, which shows chats that you have saved to be viewed later.

Microsoft will also add the ability to share and export your chats via Bing Chat, Edge sidebar. Your chats can be shared on social media, or moved into Microsoft Word if desired.
