Google perspectives about this image, AI-generated image labelling and new Google perspectives

Google also announced a few features for the current Google Search, along with the new Google Search generative experiences. The new features include about this image, AI-generated labels and perspectives.

Perspectives

Google has added a new perspective filter to its search engine that allows users to filter search results by videos, blogs, and forums. Liz Reid, Google’s VP of Search, said that these results are meant to give people a “lived” experience to their search queries.

The younger generation wants to be able to understand the answers that are given by people sharing their personal experiences. This is why the interface has been designed to make it more accessible and friendly.

Google explained that when you tap the perspectives filter you will be able to see more images, videos, and written content from discussion boards, social media platforms and Q&A websites.

Google will also display additional details about the creators, such as the name, profile picture, or information regarding the popularity of the content.

Google tested perspectives in the early days of. However, those examples were different from what was covered here. Last week , I noticed this. Google announced that will be rolled out in “coming weeks.”

Google’s “About This Image” will work similarly to About This Result, which is used for text-based searches. It will tell you where and when images like this were first indexed, and also where they may have first appeared.

AI-generated image labels

Google has also released a new markup that allows site owners to identify their images as AI generated.

It will be a brand new meta-data label that site owners and publishers will need to manually add. Google will indicate whether or not an image is AI-generated in image search results.

Google does not label images as AI-generated algorithimically because it is “not yet there” to determine if the image was created by a machine or a person. Google trusts image creators to apply this meta data.

This markup only works for images and not AI-generated text.

How it looks. This is a screenshot showing how an image created by Midjourney looks. It says, “Image self-labeled AI generated.”

Technicals. Google informed us that the markup used for the AI generated self-label would be based on technical standards set by IPTC. This will be similar to the way Google Images currently displays certain information based upon image metadata.
