le now treats.ai as generic top-level Domains

Google updated its documentation to state that.ai domains are now treated as generic top-level sites, like.com and.org. Google has posted an update here that adds.ai domain names to the list of top-level domains Google considers generic.

What it means. It simply means that Google will no long consider a domain ending in.ai to be geo-related with Anguilla. Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory located in the Eastern Caribbean. It consists of a main island, as well as several offshore islands.

Gary Illyes, from Google’s search relations team, posted on LinkedIn that “we won’t infer the country target from the ccTLD, so targeting Anguilla was a little more difficult, but there aren’t many.aidomains that do that anyway.”

Why we care. You no longer have to be concerned about Google targeting your.ai name to Anguilla. Build your next business using a.ai extension.
