Google Ads API Version 14 is now available with several major updates. These include new features that support the transition from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4
Why should we care? The new version 14 of Google Ads API provides a better user experience, enhancing campaign management as well as performance.
What’s new? Here are a few highlights from the 2023 update.
- Account level negative keywords This new feature allows advertisers to retrieve account-level keywords, create them and update them. Users will now be able exclude certain keywords from targeting a campaign or adgroup, but also the entire account.
- New recommendation types: This includes DynamicImageExtensionOptInRecommendation for advertisers whose accounts will benefit from enabling dynamic image extensions. It also includes LowerTargetRoasRecommendation and RaiseTargetCpaRecommendation, which will help users to tweak their return on ad spend.
- New conversion actions These new features help advertisers identify conversions imported directly from Google Analytics. They can also determine whether a conversion comes from Universal Analytics or GA4. This is especially important because GA4 will replace Universal Analytics as of July 1. These changes must be reflected in Google Ads API version 14.
- Client summaries for offline conversion This is a new section in the customer resources which offers information on the offline conversion process. For example, it shows how many conversions have been successfully uploaded and how many have failed after the offload jump.
- Keyword planning space: Google Ads API V14 features a new method called GenerateForecastKeywordMetrics, to support keyword forecast metrics without needing to create a keyword plan first.
