le introduces a new filter for mobile search results that allows users to see the perspective of a search query.
Google began rolling out the new perspectives filter for mobile search results over the weekend. This feature was announced during Google I/O. We have seen Google previews and test this feature over the last few months. Now it is live.
How it looks. You can view this feature by using the mobile search and sliding the filters up until you see the “perspectives”. Click the “perspectives option” to see those results.
Perspectives: More information Searchers can choose to filter their results so that they only see blogs, videos and forums. Liz Reid, Google’s VP of Search, said at Google I/O that these results are meant to give people a “lived” experience to their search queries. Searchers can now see responses from users who have shared their personal experiences, and the answers are presented in a more user-friendly interface for younger searchers.
Google explained that when you tap the perspectives filter you will be able to see more images, videos, and written content from discussion boards, social media platforms and Q&A websites.
Google was testing views early on. However, the examples were different than what we have covered. This was spotted in May.
Hat tip to Kumarpal Shah who spotted this on Saturday.
Why we care. This is a way to view content in forums, videos and blogs, where people give their opinion and perspective on a particular topic.
It is unclear how many users will actually use the filter, but it’s rolling out and you can play around with it now to see if it shows up in some searches.
