ase of Salesforce Winter 2023: The Business Executive’s Guide //
Salesforce is used by more than 150,000 businesses. Salesforce holds about 25% of the CRM market.
Few Salesforce customers make use of the three-year release updates that are sent out to all users. I get it. People don’t pay attention to releases as they are focused on their businesses and tend to the millions of other things that happen every day.
This Winter’s ’23 release is over 700 pages. The summary is still 32.
Business executives are often limited in their time and resources to keep up with these updates. Although your admins and marketing personnel may read the entire document, they may not be able to connect the dots between platform functionality and business initiatives.
These dots will be connected by this series. This series will cover the most recent releases in five key categories: service, commerce, marketing, loyalty programs, and service.
I will discuss the features that can help you make better business decisions and maximize your use of the platform.
Salesforce has a focus on these features based on this release
- Enhancing the base platform (adding ease that developers and admins have been asking for).
- Create more ways to connect customers.
- Offering more industry-specific options to increase the value of a business’s operations faster.
Commerce offers robust support for subscription sales
A subscription pricing model is a benefit to most businesses, regardless of whether they are a fan belt manufacturer and artisan dog food companies.
It’s always a win-win situation to make it easier for customers to purchase your product. This release also makes it easier to implement subscriptions from the backend using the Connect API tool.
Connect API resources now support subscriptions as well as multiple product-selling models.
- A one-time sale in which products are sold at a specific price once.
- Term sales allow for subscriptions that are limited in time. The products are only available for a specified time and can be renewed at a later date. 12 months.
- Evergreen subscriptions provide products on a recurring base until they are cancelled.
It was also possible to set up charges to collect local taxes in international jurisdictions.

Additional enablement functionality to be added to sales
Overall, I love the focus on enabling through enhancements with screen flows, dynamic forms, and Slack integration.
Now, teams can create and launch enablement programs to drive the most important KPIs of your business. Now you can focus on specifics such as programs for a product or region and offer incentives to increase business.
Dynamic form improvements allow end-users to have greater flexibility in selecting fields and sections for display on pages.
A new integration allows sales teams to access, update, and share records directly from Slack. This will allow them to get important notifications about their key accounts. Sales teams can now collaborate on account- and opportunity-focused Slack channels, while also having access to Salesforce data.
You can also make it easier for sales team members to communicate with colleagues in other departments, such as finance, fulfillment, shipping, or finance. Slack allows for real-time access of Salesforce data to anyone who needs it.
Next time I’ll be diving into the new service, marketing and loyalty program features in the Winter 2023 Release.
