le Discover performance reports increase accuracy
Google has updated its system to count clicks, impressions, and other metrics for the Google Search Console Discover performance reports. The Discover performance Google Search console allows you to track the visibility that your articles and content are getting within Google Discover. This report has been updated. This update was made on November 28, 2022.
You may notice an increase in clicks and impressions in this report. However, it is not related to your actual performance on Google Discover.
What is Google Discover? Google Discover is Google Feed’s new name. It shows you news and topics related to items you are interested in. Google Discover allows you to find information about your interests without having to search for them. This information will typically appear on Google’s homepage on your Google App browser or on your Google mobile app. It can also be pushed directly to your device via Google mobile app.
What’s the Discovery report? These are the questions that the Discover report in Google Search Console answers:
- How often does my site appear in Discover by users? How big is my traffic?
- What content is most successful in Discover?
- What is the performance of my content in Discover?
What’s new. Google stated that, as of November 28, 2022 Google had improved their system to count Discover impressions and clicks. You might notice an increase in Discover data that better reflects the appearance of your site in Discover.
This is what it looks like. Logging into Google Search Console will show you a Discover report. Not everyone has it. You may also see an annotation on November 28th.
Why we care. Reporting is important in every job, but it’s more important in a marketing job. These numbers are subject to change due to the ever-changing Google Discover landscape. Discover may send you very little traffic on some days while it might send you much more than you could ever imagine. It might be difficult to notice these changes in clicks or impressions. However, Google has confirmed that the change was made.
