le’s Search Console now includes a more detailed report on page indexing issues.

Google Search Console has been updated to include more “finely-grained” information about page indexing. John Mueller stated that this is only a change in reporting and doesn’t affect the processing of your site.

The problem. SEOs who are savvy noticed an increase in the number of issues reported in this Search Console indexing report. Google didn’t post any annotations to explain the issue, so many SEOs assumed that it was their website.

Michelle’s Twitter example:

Google made a change. John Mueller, a Google employee, explained via Twitter that the company is unable to add annotations. He stated: “We’re adding annotations.” He also added “somehow, the publishing of the annotation was delayed, sorry.”

What has changed? John stated that they have added “more finely-grained information on page indexing issues is now available.” You may notice an increase in the number of issues reported. It is not a new way of processing your website. This is only a reporting change.”

Why we care. These reporting changes may be the cause of any changes you’ve noticed in your report.

This is not a change to how Google processes the web site.

If you find errors, try to correct them.
