How to make the most of 16 AI-powered writing tools//
I write a lot. I write a lot, contribute to two publications, and create marketing collateral for my business. Every week, I also generate a lot of bits and pieces to support customer engagement.
I’m not a natural writer nor do I love writing. Writing is difficult for me. I find it daunting to stare at a blank page. It consumes a large portion of my workweek. It is appealing to use artificial intelligence (AI), to create content.
Are we to be skeptical about AI-generated content
There is currently a lot of negative press surrounding the use of AI to create content. Given the novelty of the technology and the feeling that we are opening Pandora’s Box, this is not surprising.
There are three main categories of concerns:
- Content overload. We believe that it is too easy to overwhelm our customers and prospects with meaningless, poorly written content.
- Authenticity. We fear losing authenticity and honesty in communications, which could lead to a loss of connection and relationships with customers.
- Search engine impact. Concerns about the impact of AI-generated search engine content on search engine rankings. Google currently considers AI-generated material spam, and it is therefore against their webmaster policies.
These concerns are understandable, but they can be addressed. Analytics that we use to refine customer journey maps, and show us what makes engaging content, will help us balance quality, quantity and authenticity.
Machine learning is being used to give us actionable insights and recommendations. Analytics tools are constantly evolving. These tools will ensure that we don’t spam prospects because it is easy.
Google is treating AI-generated content like spam. The search engine cannot distinguish which content is AI generated unless the content looks and feels spammy. They should conceal it in this instance.
No matter how the content is created, good content is still good content. As AI capabilities improve over time, I believe Google will find a way that suits it.

Four common uses for AI writing tools
AI content generation capabilities still remain in their infancy. It is not yet possible to rely on an algorithm for writing a blog post or article without human input.
Today’s AI content generation tools are positioned as “writing assistants,” rather than “writers,” which is quite a distinction. They are focused on:
- Productivity and time savings
- SEO improvements by identifying and using keywords.
- Grammar analysis can improve writing quality.
Current AI-generated content can add value to many situations.
1: Overcoming fear of the blank page
Recently, I struggled to write an article on the relationship between martech marketing and larger functions of marketing.
I tried Jasper.ai as an experiment. I created a title, a summary of the article, and added keywords. Finally, I chose a tone and voice.
Jasper quickly returned three paragraphs, which were a bit redundant but still quite well-written. These paragraphs were a great starting point.
I deleted the rest and used only one sentence. To structure my article, I did however use the AI-generated thoughts. Overall, it was a great experience.
2: Refining the text
Jasper.ai was trialed by a teammate who spent a lot of time writing emails. She was very happy with the results.
She is a fantastic promotional writer. It’s extremely helpful for people who struggle with promotional writing to have a tool that allows them to refine and improve their content. It gave her great material to use for A/B testing.
3: Inspiration and outlines
AI content tools can be a great starting point if you don’t know what topic you should write about.
The outline will help you to think about the structure of your article or ebook.
4: Slogans (social posts, bios, and more)
Many tools are not limited to blog posts. They can be used for all kinds of business communications. These tools can be very helpful when writing ads copy or social media posts.
Some tools can be used for personal communication, such as resignation letters, birthday cards, invitations and cover letters.
These communications are a little bit creepy but could be very useful to those who find them challenging.

You decide: Test the AI content writing tools
After looking at the tools, I decided to submit my opening paragraph to paraphrasing services. They are all impressive, though some are better than others. Below are the results.
(I resist the temptation to rewrite the opening paragraph. I would have used Contentbot.ai’s paragraph as my first paragraph if I had done that.
My first paragraph
“I write a lot. I write for two publications, contribute marketing collateral to my company, and create many bits and pieces to support customer engagement each week. I’m not a natural writer nor do I love writing. Writing is difficult for me. I find it daunting to stare at a blank page. Writing takes up a large portion of my week. It is appealing to use AI to create content.
Contentbot.ai
Writing is my bane. Although I don’t consider I am a writer, I still write every day. It’s especially difficult when I have to write on a blank page, or reorder words to make the sentence flow better. It doesn’t matter if I’m creating marketing emails or a blog, I spend a lot of time crafting quality content for my audience. It is exciting to think of AI as a way to create content.

I am not a natural writer, and it isn’t something I enjoy. Writing is difficult for me. The thought of a blank sheet of paper can be intimidating. Writing takes up a large portion of my work week. It is very appealing to think of creating content using AI.
Writesonic

It is very appealing to think of AI being used to create content.
Copymatic
“I write a lot. I write for two publications, contribute marketing collateral to my company, and create many bits and pieces each week. I am not a natural writer, and I don’t like writing as much. It takes up a large portion of my workweek. It sounds great to use AI to create content.
I went beyond paraphrasing to create a blog post using one tool.
My request: Please write an article in an informal tone about the use of AI content for marketing.
Although the result was not something I would publish, it gave me some ideas. Here’s what I got back.
Introduction
Artificial intelligence systems can create content using AI. These systems can create text, audio, and video from information they have gleaned from large quantities of data. This technology helps marketers and other businesses create content that is natural and authentic, while also saving time.
AI content can be found here.
AI content is here for the long-term. This is not a trend or fad. AI-generated content will not disappear. It is going to continue to gain popularity as the technology behind them becomes more advanced, accessible, and more affordable. Google recently launched “Cloud AutoML Vision”, a product that uses machine learning to automatically label images. This is a task normally reserved for humans.
AI generates relevant ideas which you can tailor into brand-specific content or just as inspiration. This can help you save time and money, while increasing your brand’s online visibility.
AI also offers marketers an opportunity to reach new audiences by providing them with solutions they didn’t even know they needed until they saw them advertised online through AI-generated content campaigns that target their specific interests/hobbies/passions etc.
Conclusion
Every business’s marketing strategy is based on content. Although content may vary in format, such as blog posts or videos, it is essential that companies create quality materials that will be engaging and useful to their customers. Marketers are increasingly using AI-generated content to automate their processes. However, this allows them to spend more time on creating original content and managing social media accounts.
Rytr was also asked to create blog headlines using the same topic “the use AI-generated content for marketing”. It produced some great ideas.

Quillbot’s summary tool was the most exciting thing I tried. I hoped it would help me create an abstract for my articles. Unfortunately, it didn’t work the way I expected. Here’s how I summarized the article.
There is a lot of negative press surrounding the use of AI to create content. Analytics that we trust will moderate quality, quantity and authenticity. Google cannot distinguish AI-generated content unless it feels and looks like spam, in which case they should hide it. I was astonished at the number of tools available to generate AI text content. Many tools include a variety of templates, grammar and plagiarism checkers. Some tools focus on a specific specialty, such as paraphrasing, or a particular medium like social media or web content.
AI-powered writing tools are able to assist people, not replace them
These tools are a great help in creating content marketing. I prefer to use a tool as an aid than write my own content.
After some more research, I am confident that I will subscribe to at least two of these tools. The flip side is that I shared this article with my husband. It was hard to duplicate the look of terror on his face.
Professor at a business school, he immediately saw the danger of students using these tools to paraphrase one another’s work or to write essays.
You will need to be creative in order to find the best way to use AI content generation in academic environments.

AI-generated content is a new frontier. There are still many things to learn. It will undoubtedly be disruptive in the content creation industry, that is what I know. Marketers need to understand how to harness its power, without losing the “why” or “for whom” of what they are writing.
Although this article is about text generation, I thought it would be interesting to see if an AI generator could create an image that goes with the text. Nightcafe was my first stop. I typed “Robot Typing Text” and selected “Modern Comic” for the style. They then asked me for four images. I am very happy with the results, and I am looking forward to my next adventure.
