rt: Google Search will launch chatbot features in the new year
According to a New York Times report, Google will show a chatbot-enabled version of its search engine this year.
Why do we care? AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT have been discussed numerous times over the past two years. Microsoft is already working on adding ChatGPT functionality to Microsoft Bing search. Code red at Google. After the reaction to ChatGPT’s launch, Google CEO Sundar Pichai issued a code red, recognizing that the technology was a significant threat to Google search business.
Google founders returned. Google executives called in Larry Page and Sergey Brin , who left in December 2019 for meetings regarding the company’s A.I. product strategy. According to the Times, neither of them had been involved in Google search prior to this.

According to a slide presentation that was reviewed by The New York Times, two people who are not authorized to discuss the plans and two others with knowledge of them, Google intends to announce more than 20 products and show a chatbot-enabled version of its search engine this year.
In the presentation on chatbot search, three priorities were discussed:
- Get the facts right.
- Safety.
- How to get rid of misinformation
According to the report, Google could block certain words in order to prevent hate speech. However, it will also try to minimize any other issues related to hate, toxicity, danger, and misinformation.
