Moz increases its Domain Authority metric

Moz, an SEO tool, announced a new method of measuring Domain Authority (DA) in 2019.

Basically, DA refers to a score that, between 0 and 100, “predicts the likelihood of a website ranking in search engine results pages.”

What has changed? Moz upgrades controversial domain authority.

To make it clear, Google doesn’t use Domain Authority for ranking purposes. According to a tweet, “We don’t use domain authority at any time in our algorithms.” John Mueller, Google.

Because the DA metric has caused confusion in the SEO industry, many have given it value as a meaningful SEO metric similar to the visible Google PageRank scores. It is often found in spammy SEO emails and link building emails.

Rand Fishkin, the creator of the metric, basically disowned Domain Authority because he didn’t care about it anymore. It was created by me, but it is still” during Milestone’s engage conference in Aug 2022.
