Google AdWords Announces Enhanced Campaigns
2013 was the year of Google AdWords’ Enhanced Campaigns. This major update was made to make campaign management easier across multiple devices and increase mobile advertising adoption among small and medium-sized companies.
Notable changes include:
- Desktops and tablets would be combined, instead of being treated as distinct devices.
- Advertisers would establish a baseline bid for both tablet and desktop, then add the mobile bid to the desktop/tablet bid.
- Targeting at the operating-system level would not be possible.
Google had planned to upgrade all campaigns by June 2013. However, the rollout would begin July 22. It would take several weeks.
