Google Chrome will mark non-HTTPS websites as ‘not secured’
Google declared in 2018 that it would mark all websites that have not converted to HTTPS with the Chrome browser as “not secure”.
Google had been encouraging webmasters to switch to non-secure websites since years. It even hinted at a small rank boost to encourage the shift.
According to Google, 2018 will see:
- Protected: More than 68% of Chrome traffic, both Android and Windows
- Protected Chrome traffic on Chrome OS and Mac exceeded 78%
- HTTPS was used by default on 81 of the 100 most popular websites on the internet
