Google page experience update for desktop rolls out
Google launched a nine day rollout for its desktop page experience update in 2022.
Page experience is comprised of many Google search ranking factors including Page Speed Update, mobile-friendly update and Page Speed Update. Also, there was the safe browsing penalty, intrusive interstitials penalty and Core HTML Vitals.
The page experience update desktop contained all signals from the mobile version, except for mobile-friendliness for obvious reasons.
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP).
- Cumulative Layout Shifts (CLS).
- First Input Delay
- Secure HTTPS
- Absence of intrusive Interstitials
Google’s words:
- “While this update is intended to highlight pages offering great user experiences, page quality remains one of the many factors our systems consider… Sites should not expect any drastic changes.
