Is Twitter officially dead? It all depends on who you ask.
Twitter headquarters has been experiencing dramatic events over the last few weeks. Before we get to that, I want to thank Dark-Paul Gosselaar who provided the inspiration for our cover image.
It would be remiss of me not to mention that I sympathize fully with the employees who were fired, whether they had chosen to do so. It’s not a joke that thousands of people lose their jobs. I am not making light of this.
How did we get here?
Elon Musk sent eight tweets today. This is surprising considering Musk should be running a business (to the ground).
His latest round of changes, however, is an undoing his first act as CEO: to ban Kathy Griffin from his office and other people who poke fun at him leadership.
Musk sent an encrypted email to all staffers to start the week. Musk sent an (encrypted?) email to his staff informing them that they would be fired if they did not work “extremely hardcore” to build “Twitter 2.
The results?
Twitter quickly announced that they would be locking their doors shortly after the email was sent. Some say they will reopen on November 21. All employees who remained were informed that badge access was revoked.
This was Twitter HQ’s scene last night.
Musk also tweeted:
He knows that people love to watch a train crash, right?
It seems that conversations are flowing and opinions are flying and engagement is high.
Many people believe that this is the end of Twitter. Musk has joined the fun.
Let this sink in. Musk began his first day at work by firing Parag Agrawal, the CEO. Soon, others followed his lead. Let’s take a look at who has gone.
- Parag Agrawal, CEO
- Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal
- Vijaya Gadde is the head of legal policy, trust, and safety

- Peiter Zatko is Head of Security
- Sarah Personette, chief customer officer
- Dalana Brand, chief people and diversity officer
- Chief marketing officer, Leslie Berland

- General manager for core technologies, Nick Caldwell
- Robert Kaiden, chief accounting officer

People who aren’t fired choose to quit. Why? Peter Clowes explains why some people aren’t following Musk.
Twitter is now complete.
Maybe? Perhaps?
Some people aren’t convinced.
It’s hard to believe Musk would spend $44Billion on the platform to see it all burn down in just a few weeks. However, I think he underestimated the amount of work that his staff would have to endure. It’s difficult to decide what to believe with all the contradicting information. This page will be updated as new information becomes available. Keep checking back!
